Cameron Black has spent more than a decade working in companion-animal medicine, developing particular expertise in regenerative medicine and stem-cell therapy.
As Head Veterinary Surgeon at Arthur Lodge, Cameron has played a leading role in transforming the practice from a small general practice into a 24-hour veterinary centre.
But for Cameron, growth was never simply about becoming bigger. It was about creating a practice where clinical standards, investment and innovation could continue to move forward.
“Our goal is to become a gold-standard general practice, and there’s a lot of exciting things happening, from CT scanning to improving our diagnostics and surgical offering.”
Finding the right partnership
After three years with DNA Vetcare, Cameron was already familiar with the organisation and its approach. But when the opportunity to enter partnership arose, he didn’t make the decision lightly.
He carried out extensive market research, exploring partnership opportunities with other veterinary groups as well as considering the possibility of setting up independently.
“I’ve been offered partnerships at some of the other companies out there and I’ve also looked at going into business just for myself.”
Ultimately, DNA stood out because its partnership model offered something Cameron felt was difficult to find elsewhere: the security of partnership without compromising his independence as a clinician.

For Cameron, one of the most important aspects of partnership was retaining control over clinical decision-making.

That combination of financial security and professional autonomy gave Cameron the confidence to pursue his ambitions for Arthur Lodge while continuing to make decisions based on what he believed was right for his patients, team and practice.

Now in partnership, Cameron is focused on the next stage of Arthur Lodge’s development.
With ambitions around advanced diagnostics, CT scanning and an expanded surgical offering, the partnership is giving him the opportunity to invest in the practice while retaining the clinical culture that has helped it grow.
